17 Oiling up the canvas

What is meant by the phrase 'oiling up the canvas"? I give a brief explanation here of how I add chalk to a mixture of Gamblin's Gel (G-Gel) and Galkyd.

  3. Thanks for doing this blog, Brad. This is great stuff. I just read through all the posts and watched all the videos. Can't wait to try some of these things out--especially the brush loading.

As a primarily digital painter I totally agree with your statements about an increased interest in the hand-made as we go further down the digital road. I know that has been true for me. The more time I spend painting on my computer the more I long to work in a more physical, tangible medium.

    Thanks again,

    Dave

  4. Tom, I will be making a video soon about shadows and how atmosphere and light create interesting color patterns.

Thanks for you comments Dave. Let me know how your painting goes.

Dean, be sure to tune in to the aforementioned video as I will add more value/color/temperature information.

    Thanks for your comments.
